‘You can be both sexy and saved’: Mary Mary Singer Comments on Controversial Album Photo [LOOK]
Gospel dynamic duo Mary Mary will soon be taking a break from one another as they prepare to embark on solo careers.  However, they will continue working side by side in their reality television show, Mary Mary, which broadcast on WeTV, reports the Grio.

A photo of Erica that circulated the internet several weeks ago caused a lot of controversy throughout the Christian community.  The photo of Erica wearing a white dress was part of the promotion for her new album –“Help,” scheduled for release in March 2014.

Recently Erica and her sister sat down with Chris Witherspoon of the Grio to address how Christians can be saved and sexy. Specifically she addressed the criticism surrounding the white dress. Erica said,
I feel good in the skin I’m in. I just didn’t think that dress was going to be that big of a deal. I felt like I looked good. I have three children. I have worked out and I wanted to wear a pretty white dress on a pretty white background with my long straight black hair.”
According to Erica, the word sexy is not taboo, and people should not be making a big deal out of sex – which was created by God.  Married Christians should be free to express their sexuality with one another, she added.
Erica explained that a higher standard is imposed on Christian artists:
R&B artist or an actress wore that they would go, ‘oh she looks so conservative,’ but because I sing gospel people are uncomfortable with that.”
However, Erica looks at the criticism as a blessing in disguise.  The dialogue ignited by the white dress has actually opened a door for much needed conversation about sexuality and Christians.  She plans on using the situation to incite conversation and educate the Body of Christ on a much needed topic – that will hopefully liberate and bring joy to married Christians.
