11 Bodies Recovered As Boat Capsizes In Lagos [GRAPHIC IMAGES]
LAGOS – A boat carrying not less than fifteen persons is said to have capsized at the 4th Avenue, Opposite 41 Road Junction, Festac Town, Lagos late Monday night, March 10, 2014.
The Public Information Officer, National Emergency Agency (NEMA), Mr Ibrahim Farinloye has confirmed the incident saying a distress alert was received at about 11 p. m. last night and rescue operation was set out immediately.

“We urgently need your assistance. This is a distressed alert received around 11:10pm. Navy Special Boat Service, National Inland Water Ways, Marine Police, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Police Disaster unit, Navy Air-wing and NEMA have been mobilized to search for the boat,” Farinloye said.
According to reports, six persons were rescued and eleven bodies have been recovered by emergency rescue officials.
