Police Nab 9 Highway Robbery Suspects In Benue
The Benue State Police Command said yesterday that it apprehended nine suspected armed robbers along Okpoga Road in Okpokwu Local Government Area of the state.
The command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Daniel Ezeala, a Superintendent of Police, said the suspects, who were 15 in number, barricaded a portion of the road that links Okpoga to other communities in the area and were robbing unsuspecting citizens plying the route.

Ezeala explained that  the suspected robbers continued with their activities unchallenged from Saturday night until the early hours of Sunday during which they would abduct their victims from a particular place to dump them in another location.
The police spokesman disclosed that a distress call was made by an eyewitness to the police, adding that the police swung into action immediately, arrested nine out of the 15 suspects and  recovered two locally-made pistols from them.
Ezeala said the arrested suspects were currently helping the police in its investigation while the police were still on the trail of the other six members of the gang who escaped.
He urged residents and motorists in the state to go about their businesses without any fear as the command had beefed up security in every part of the state.
